To dial from the U.S./Caribbean, dial 1 + Area Code + Local Number

NOTE :  Mandatory 10-digit dialing (area code + phone number for local calls) went into effect
 for area code 514 (Montréal Island) on 28 October 2006 and for area code 438 (Montreal Island) on 4 November 2006. 
Mandatory 10-digit dialing has existed in the larger metro areas of Canada for several years.
